Keratosis
Keratosis refers to a group of skin conditions characterised by overgrowth of keratin (a type of protein in the skin), resulting in rough, scaly patches or raised growths. The most common types are:
- Seborrheic Keratosis – often appears as brown, black , or light-colour growths with a waxy, wart-like appearance. While benign, they may be removed for cosmetic reasons or if they cause irritation.
- Actinic Keratosis – Pre-cancerous lesions caused by sun exposure. they are rough scaly patches that may become cancerous if left untreated, so prompt removal is recommended.
