Causes of Skin Lesions
Skin lesions are abnormal growths, bumps or textures that differ to the skin surrounding it. Moles, warts and skin tags are a handful of the types of lesions that our clinic can remove. The EXELO2 CO2 Full Ablation Mode can be used to remove superficial benign skin changes across the surface. This German engineered technology makes it safer, dependable and very efficient.
Skin Tags (acrochordon) are bits of flesh-coloured or darkly pigmented tissue that project from the surrounding skin. They mainly occur on areas such as the neck, armpit, groin and eyelids and are thought to occur from skin friction, where the skin rubs against skin or clothing.
Scientists have still not identified a specific cause for keratosis, however, there are various risk factors involved with their development. These growths are often attributed to extensive exposure to sunlight.
The occurrence of moles are the result of cells within the skin growing in clusters rather than spreading out over the skin’s surface. These cells, known as melanocystes, are responsible for giving your skin a natural tone.
Syringomas are formed as a result of increased activity of the sweat gland which in extremely rare cases leads to tumor growth. There are various external causes that can trigger the development of syringomas.
CO2 Full Ablative
The CO2 Full Ablative procedure delivers a laser through a range of narrow wavelengths that are able to target the area to rise the temperature that in turn results in full tissue ablation. After this, the body’s natural healing process replaces the damaged tissue with healthy tissue. This procedure has been considered as the cosmetic industry’s golden standard.
Lesions such as warts can be removed through the combined use of Co2 and Cutera 1064 laser.
The top layer of hard skin removed by the Co2 laser will form scabs and eventually peel off, whereas the Cutera 1064 laser causes the wart to coagulate without creating an open wound. The majority of the laser light by-passes the upper layers (epidermis) of the skin and concentrates on the tiny blood vessels that feed the wart near the “dermis” of the skin, causing the wart to dry up over time.
Wart removal using both lasers is very effective and most warts are permanently removed after one treatment. Approximately 10% of warts will need a second treatment. Our practice offers a single cost for completely removing warts.
